EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapy treatment that is designed to alleviate the distress associated with trauma and other distressing life experiences. EMDR therapy focuses directly on the memory and is intended to change the way the memory is stored in the brain. You and your therapist can determine if you would be a good fit for EMDR.

Trauma and PTSD

Trauma affects all areas of our lives and impacts our ability to feel safe and secure. We receive messages from our family, organized religion, culture, and community that can be damaging and led to feelings of shame, guilt, and fear. Our therapists work with individuals with a variety of traumatic experiences including physical, emotional, and sexual abuse/assault, early childhood trauma, spiritual abuse, intimate partner violence, neglect, abandonment, and intergenerational trauma utilizing different modalities.

Gender/Sexual identity

All of our therapists work with people who identify as members of the LGBTQIA+ community, people with family members in this community, and people who are questioning their sexuality and gender identity. We help individuals and families who are navigating changes in identity, having difficult conversations, and facing backlash from their community as well as helping individuals explore their gender and sexual identities and process any strong feelings that arise.

ADHD/ASD/Neurodiversity

Symptoms of ADHD can be confusing and frustrating when trying to fit into a neurotypical society. We can help you learn to support the ADHD brain instead of working against it, using different strategies and tools specific to your needs. We will utilize your strengths to work towards overcoming challenges, increasing focus, and practicing non-judgment and acceptance.

Adolescent Challenges

Adolescence is a time of identity development and emotional growth. Our adolescent therapists help preteens and teenagers navigate this time period that can be challenging, including self-esteem and identity issues, bullying/peer relationships, family changes/dynamics, trauma, school issues, self-harm, depression, anxiety. We focus on helping clients learn how to navigate the world in a safe way while increasing communication and coping skills.

Depression

Depression can be debilitating, and affect how you feel and interact with the world. It can leave you feeling sad, numb, and stuck for long periods of time. It can sometimes cause an impact on your thought patterns and physical health, and can happen to anyone. Depression is not a sign of weakness or laziness. Depression counseling provides you with support and promotes healing of hopelessness, low motivation and energy, sadness, loss of interest and pleasure in life, and negative self-talk. Together we can explore what's impacting your mood and coping skills to help you move forward in your life.

ANXIETY

When experiencing anxiety, it can feel like negative feelings and thoughts just won't stop. These emotions can also become so overwhelming that they begin to interfere with our happiness, relationships, and ability to take control of our life. Anxiety can foster self-doubt, and shatter self-esteem & self-confidence. Together we can find helpful ways to challenge anxiety and stop the worry from controlling you while rebuilding self-confidence and self-esteem.

Interpersonal Relationships/couples Therapy

We work with individuals and couples on relationship issues and communication. This includes conflicts, boundaries, attachment, and codependency, ways to have healthy disagreements, abandonment issues, communicating wants and needs, and those recovering after an affair or breakup/separation.

Disordered Eating/Body Dysmorphia

Disordered eating and body dysmorphia are about far more than food. Complex feelings of fear, sadness, trauma, and so much more have manifested into something you feel you can control -- the amount of food you do or don’t allow yourself to have and the way you think and talk about your body. We practice from a Health at Every Size (HAES) perspective, to help you process your relationship with your body, and build trust in yourself. Through therapy, you can feel at ease in your body, make peace with food, and live a life that reflects your true values.
